Around 1920 Van Doesburg also became interested in Dadaism, which displayed an anti-art attitude and anarchistic mentality. In 1922 he organised a major congress in Weimar to which both Constructivists and Dadaists were invited. The two parties nearly came to blows when the Dadaist Tzara derided and ridiculed everything the Constructivists stood for. Van Doesburg, his third wife Nelly and the artists Schwitters and Huszár enjoyed the commotion that the Dada shows caused in Germany, and later also in The Netherlands.
