Museum De Lakenhal in Sinebrychoff Art Museum, Helsinki

At the Sinebrychoff Art Museum in Helsinki the exhibition Painting Beauty. Caesar van Everdingen (1617 – 1678) will be on display untill 14 May 2017. This exhibition will feature the majestic painting 'De overhandiging van de oorkonde van 1255 van Graaf Willem II van Holland aan de Heemraden van Rijnland' (1655).

Enrichment of the Golden Age

The royal cabinet of paintings Mauritshuis in The Hague displays an overview of the painting from the Golden Age. In this monumental building, world reknowned paintings are on view, among which the 'Girl with the Pearl Earring' (c. 1665) and 'View of Delft' (c. 1660-61) by Johannes Vermeer, Rembrandt's 'Doctor Tulp's Anatomy Class' (1632) and 'The Goldfinch' (1654) by Carel Fabritius.

Toorop in Katwijk

Jan Toorop (1858–1928) is one of the most important Dutch painters from the period 1880-1910. At first he worked in the Impressionistic style, but through Pointillism he developed into a painter of the Symbolic style. He was active as a portrait painter as well, and designed ceramics, commercial posters and book covers. His work is often associated with Dutch Art Nouveau. From 1890 to 1892 and from 1899 to 1904, Jan Toorop lived in Katwijk on the sea. In 1891, his first daughter was born here. Charley Toorop would turn into a famous artist later in life.

Dutch Masters of the Golden Age

Rembrandt might be born in Leiden, Haarlem was also home to a famous artist: Frans Hals. The Frans Hals Museum displays the largest collection of works by its namegiver, but also illustrates the broader image of the development of Dutch painting in the Golden Age. Some importatnt paintings from the collection of Museum De Lakenhal will travel to Haarlem to enforce the story.

Museum Catharijneconvent in Utrecht is het national museum for religious art, culture and history. The art and objects on display tell stories of belief and believing in Holland.
