My collector’s item is the pudding mould. Now I am looking for instant pudding packets who were produced in The Netherlands in the 19th and 20th century. Apart from pudding moulds I collect information about the factories Honig, Victrix, Thermos, A. J. Polak and many others.

I absolutely love the fifties and collect everything from that era. Piggy banks are a must!

I have a great passion for Art-Deco objects. During a family reunion I was lucky enough to spot an Art-Deco cabinet in a little shop, which matches this clock perfectly. They both have brown marbled plates, that’s why at home the clock is always placed on top of the cabinet.

I enjoy collecting beer caps in as many different colours as possible. I started collecting them when I went out for dinner with my family every week, because there would always be a holder with beer caps somewhere on the table.

The designer of this bracelet is Irene Bakker. It tells a special story, because the designer is the ex of her current husband. At home she has more objects by Irene Bakker, but the material makes this bracelet stand out: it’s made of lots of small metal rings.

This composing stick comes from the collection of the Mobiel Grafisch Musem in Susteren.

Corkscrews are unique objects, they haven’t really changed throughout the centuries. I brought along two examples: U-Neek from 1917 and Royal Hull from 1862. The design of the last one is still in use, which makes it timeless.

This is a re-used French playing card, dating from about 1770, with on the back a hand-written musical piece for a violin ensemble. I am fascinated by the many ways playing cards were re-used. I collect information and conduct my own research about this subject, I write about it and give lectures.

I like old Christmas balls, because they often have very nice colouring. Especially the ones which are painted by hand. Christmas balls with a ‘dent’ are also beautiful, in particular when they hang in the Christmas tree with a light behind them. What makes Christmas balls special is that they are kept for many years. Every year they are taken down from the attic, unwrapped and hung in the tree. It’s wonderful that something so fragile, stays around for so long and even appears on Collectors Fairs.

Collects sewing kits. A friend made a silver plate of a turtle shell especially for this sewing box.

Keys signify places. Places and rooms are important and a recurring element in her life.

This painting of a horse and carriage on a bridge I inherited from my father.

This T-shirt is a memento of his very first concert in June 1991. De Haan goes to concerts very often and has stacks of T-shirts at home. Each shirt is only worn a couple of times and preferably never washed, to ensure the print doesn’t fade.

I collect light sources.

This ring is made of a silver guilder. The guilder this ring was made of dates from before 1967 because that was when they stopped making guilders of silver. The silver got more valuable than the guilder itself. The guilder was manually made into a ring.

He can’t live without the Beatles. At home he has a large crate with all the records of the band. The cover is special because of the oblong faces on the cover. This distortion was a sensation, but came to be by accident: when projecting the photograph on an example cover, the cover slid slightly backwards causing a stretched image. The Beatles were immediately enthusiastic.

As a graphic designer she loves posters very much. This one is special because it is a De Stijl poster, but it doesn’t show all the characteristics of De Stijl. The poster is on display in her bedroom all the time.

I started collecting coins when the Euro was introduced. There are beautiful, diverse coins. Of each country I have the Euro and several other coins.

This silver object is a gift from his partner for their ten-year anniversary. They both love the rigid forms of Scandinavian design and they assumed the dish was a Danish object. Later they found out it was a Japanese rice dish from the sixties.

I am a subconscious collector of antlers, shark teeth, bones etcetera. My collection is unstructured and I don’t mind things breaking: I regularly have to replace the antlers on the play hut in the garden because they fall off: because of the weather or the children. I never quite find out.

This dog Pim of papier mâché is made by Bunny Soeters. As an artist I swap work with colleagues now and again. Many people think the dog is ugly, so does my husband. But I like it and that’s why it’s prominently on display on the piano in the living room.

‘Happy Ever After’ by the Indonesian artist Eko Nugroho. It was on display at the exhibition ‘Beyond the Dutch’ and now I have it back again. It is a contemporary object, a wink from another world.

She has always loved cats and over the years she got more and more cat objects of friends and family, this resulted in a large collection of cat statuettes.

This is an 18th century lace- and embroidery pattern for an 18th century gent’s vest. I collect all materials for 18th century costumes, me and my husband wear and show these.
