Become Friend of Museum De Lakenhal!

As a Friend you are a member of the Community of Interest, one of the oldest communities of friends in The Netherlands! The Community aims to acquire paintings and objects of historical importance to offer these to the city of Leiden for the collection of Museum De Lakenhal. The Community promotes interest in the museum and supports the museum with various tasks. On top of that the Community organises cultural-historical lectures, tours and excursions for its members.

Become a friend of the museum for €18 a year, you support the museum
and get:

  • free entrance to De Lakenhal
  • invitations to lectures and exhibitions
  • 3 x a year De Lakenhal Newsletter
  • discount on publications of De Lakenhal


You can support the Museum as a Friend, but also by donating to the Community in the form of a gift, legacy or inheritance. Then you contribute to the preservation and development of Museum De Lakenhal in a personal way. With your donation you help us keep the cultural heritage of Leiden alive, also for generations to come! Every euro you donate, will actually be used by the Museum. The museum has the ANBI-status, an official recognition of its status as an institution for the common good, which means the museum does not have to pay inheritance tax or gift tax on legacies or donations.

Glas in Laad raam Harm Kamerlingh Onnes

Glas-in-loodraam voor Algemeen Handelsblad, Amsterdam 1929

Harm Kamerlingh Onnes (1893-1985), neef van de beroemde Leidse ‘koudeprofessor’, ontwierp de panelen ter gelegenheid van het honderdjarig bestaan van het Algemeen Handelsblad. Het glas-in-lood hing oorspronkelijk in het trappenhuis van het kantoor van het Algemeen Handelsblad aan de Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 240. 
Dat het pronkstuk nu in Museum De Lakenhal te zien is, is een klein wonder. De twintig panelen werden in 2004 teruggevonden in een boerenstal bij Amsterdam. De boer had ze na de verhuizing van de drukkerij gekocht, omdat hij het lood wilde verkopen. Gelukkig is hij nooit begonnen aan het scheiden van het glas en lood, waardoor het met relatief geringe schade teruggevonden is. Met steun van de vereniging belangstellenden in De Lakenhal is het raam gerestaureerd.
