Born in Leiden, 1996, works and lives in Leiden. In my research-based practice I work with photography, video, text and sound. My work revolves around questioning imposed norms with a critical lens, in terms of (self-)representation within womanhood. A central tension in my work lies in the interplay between historical reflection and present accountability. How does looking back help us make sense of today, and when does it become an escape from the responsibilities of the now? I use narratives of womanhood to explore these complexities, drawing from history to interrogate contemporary experiences. By reframing the past, I challenge representations that have been imposed on bodies, particularly those of women, and seek ways to reclaim agency through storytelling. Providing context for my work is an integral part of my process, ensuring that each image or narrative becomes a point of dialogue rather than a fixed statement. Through this approach, I hope to create spaces for deeper engagement, where representation is not just deconstructed but also reimagined. As a freelance collagemaker and photographer I work for different clients such as Follow The Money, Trouw, VPRO, de Volkskrant, Tijdgeest. Additionally, I often collaborate with several musicians and writers to produce imagery for their visual style. Next to this I have a background as a photo-editor for NRC media and Trouw, both based in Amsterdam.
I studied photography and image communication. My internship was with Jan Hoek in Amsterdam and with Adam Broomberg & Oliver Chanarin in Berlin. In 2018 I graduated with honors from the university of applied photography in Rotterdam. I am currently pursuing the Master's program Photography&Society at the KABK, in The Hague.
