Marlies van Boekel works in her studio at Haagweg 4E12. During the Kunstroute organized by Museum De Lakenhal on 26 and 27 september 2026 she will present recent paintings with themes like "Room with a View" and "Theater of War", reflecting on the mass destruction that takes place all around us.
She often works on projects using different techniques like video-takes, photography, painting or drawing. Since 2003 she also has been fascinated by the movement, colors and reflections of water.
Her book of photographs "Reflections in Leiden's Singelpark" contains 100 photos of reflections of the Singelpark and texts of 40 inhabitants who have a connection with the park. A selection of the photographs can be seen on www.reflectionsingelparkleiden.nl. In the Kunstroute weekend the photobook will be for sale for 20 euros in stead of 25 euros.
