Guided Tour
of the exhibition Floris Verster – At Home in Nature
Discover more about the exhibition Floris Verster – At Home in Nature during this guided tour. Let one of our experienced guides take you through this remarkable overview of the Leiden painter Floris Verster and contemporary artists Seet van Hout, Esther Hoogendijk, and Annelies Dijkman.
Floris Verster is considered a major innovator of the floral still life. While his predecessors focused primarily on exotic flowers and plants, Verster was the first Dutch artist to radically choose the everyday nature around him as his subject.
For this exhibition, Museum De Lakenhal commissioned artists Annelies Dijkman (1958), Esther Hoogendijk (1987), and Seet van Hout (1957) to create new works inspired by Verster. These new pieces are presented alongside existing works by the artists. A shared fascination and love for everyday nature runs like a common thread through the presentation.
