In 2026, it will be exactly 400 years since Jan Steen was born in Leiden. Museum De Lakenhal is marking this anniversary year with the exhibition At Home with Jan Steen – 400 Years of Merrymaking, running from 2 April until 23 August 2026. Featuring masterpieces and rare loans from institutions including the Rijksmuseum, the Mauritshuis, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and private collections, the exhibition unfolds as a lively journey of discovery through Steen’s world full of humour and unexpected life lessons.
