Public domain is a term used to indicate that works are no longer protected by copyright and related rights. In the EU, this is the case when the maker has been deceased for at least 70 years. In that case, there is no rightful claimant and there is no permission needed to use the work.

Bundel stalen van de Firma Krantz met bijbehorende handgeschreven brief beginnend met: "Lijst der Stalen gezonden aan de Groot & Roos Rotterdam op 24 April 1891". Hieronder in kolommen de nummers van de stalen (36 t/m 62), stuknummers, soort stof, maat en prijs. De stalen zijn verschillend van afmeting en voorzien van een etiket waarop dezelfde informatie als in de brief. Sommige stalen hebben opgestikte kleurlijnen in wit/blauw of geel, andere stalen hebben ingeweven gele strepen.
