Public domain is a term used to indicate that works are no longer protected by copyright and related rights. In the EU, this is the case when the maker has been deceased for at least 70 years. In that case, there is no rightful claimant and there is no permission needed to use the work.

Kop en schotel van Droste cacao. De bovenste helft van de kop is wit, de onderste helft en het oor zijn cacaobruin. Op één zijde is een verpleegster afgebeeld met een dienblad waar op een kopje met het woord "Droste" staat en een blikje cacao, waarop weer dezelfde verpleegster staat. De kop is afgewerkt met gouden randjes. De schotel is bruin met een gebroken witte rand, ombiesd met een goud randje. In het midden staat de tekst: "Cacao Droste Haarlem Holland". Beide zijn niet gemerkt.
