Public domain is a term used to indicate that works are no longer protected by copyright and related rights. In the EU, this is the case when the maker has been deceased for at least 70 years. In that case, there is no rightful claimant and there is no permission needed to use the work.

Twee dozen met analoge film en twee dozen met dvd's met een filminstallatie getiteld 'Haec Libertatis Ergo'. De analoge films zitten in een grijze doos met daarop een wit etiket; op band 1 staat "Haec Libertatis Ergo, Renee Kool/1997/24 minuten/Stedelijk Museum de Lakenhal, Leiden, The Netherlands, copie 1 d.d. juli 1998, spelen van 31 juli tot 30 augustus 1998" en op band 2 dezelfde tekst maar dan met "copie 2" en "Spelen van 31 augustus tot 30 september 1998". De dvd's zitten in een doorzichtige doos waarop een wit etiket van de Lakenhal met de naam van de kunstenaar. Op de tweede dvd staat "reserve copie".
