presentation New Leiden Cloth #2

The exhibition Seven Centuries of Leiden Cloth features a special presentation of the fabric 'Archive as fabric | fabric as archive' by textile designer Mae Engelgeer. In November 2015, her design was selected for New Leiden Cloth #2. With this design series, Museum De Lakenhal revives the old craft of making cloth.

a new design each year

Until 2019, a new designer will be selected each year. In the meantime, Museum De Lakenhal is preparing for a large scale restoration and expansion, starting in 2016. From 2019, the fabrics will be on sale in the brand new museum shop. Christie van der Haak designed the first New Leiden Cloth.

Studio Mae Engelgeer

Mae Engelgeer (1982) studied at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) and the Sandberg Institute. With her strong yet delicate graphic signature, she quickly caught the attention of a wide and international audience. Her work was just exhibited at the Design Week in Tokyo in October 2015, while Studio Mae Engelgeer will also be represented at the prestigious Salone del Mobile in Milan in April 2016.
